Alex Gonzales is a seasoned singer, educator, and composer whose career is rooted in a deep passion for music and education. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Midwestern State University, where he developed a strong foundation in vocal performance and composition.
Since 2015, Gonzales has gained recognition for his choral compositions, known for their emotional depth and accessibility for choirs of all levels. In 2022, he was honored as the Headline Composer for the MSU Red River Choral Festival, further cementing his reputation as a leading voice in contemporary choral music.
Currently serving as Composer in Residence at University Park United Methodist Church, Gonzales continues to create meaningful works that unite communities through music. His notable projects include the commissioning of “Community of Voices” for the 2023 Interfaith Services, a collaborative performance that brought together choirs from across the Dallas area. In 2025, Gonzales presented his Gift of Music Composition Concert, premiering original choral and solo vocal works. Most recently a finalist for the 25-26 Houston Choral Society Choral Composition.
In addition to his compositional work, Gonzales is dedicated to music education. He teaches elementary music at Beaver Technology Center in Garland, Texas, where he inspires young students to discover their own creativity and love of music. Through his dual role as educator and composer, Gonzales is shaping the next generation of musicians while continuing to contribute significant new works to the choral repertoire.
